Tyne Kittiwake Week – Wild Intrigue

During June/July 2022/23 a week of events, celebrating our Geordie Kittiwakes was organised by » Wild Intrigue.  Lots of thanks go to their efforts in delivering what proved to be an exciting week for all.  Kittiwake Week will return again for 2024 and details will appear in our » Events section once the programme has been finalised. 

This involved:

  • A photography and artwork exhibition.
  • Kittiwake Watch – Wild Intrigue were on hand, along the Newcastle Quayside with a scope and binoculars to borrow. Lots came along to watch the Tyne Kittiwakes and discovered more about their fascinating lives.
  • A talk was delivered by ornithologist Daniel Turner
  • Seabirds in the City shared their work in exploring the connections between
    Kittiwakes and people – in Newcastle and beyond. This was followed by an evening of film, talks and discussion.
  • There was a ‘Make a Kittiwake family activity’
  • Kittiwakes & Doughnuts Mini Exped
  • Sunset Kittiwake Safari

Wild Intrigue also organise a series of walks and talks which include their famous ‘Kittiwakes and Doughnuts.
